Tyla Mason was born November 1993 in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa, as the second of two children to father Wayne and mother Robyn. She was raised in a suburb of Cape Town especially know for its baboons.

In her work, she uses a combination of digital and traditional mediums to create drawings that are character-driven and engaging. She enjoys projects that centre around youth, education and nature, and loves to see her work appear in books.
